The Kona Brewers Festival Homebrew Competition is a local competition sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association (AHA/BJCP) recognizing the most outstanding homebrewed beer, mead and cider being produced by amateur brewers. The competition is organized and hosted by the Big Island’s homebrew clubs, the Kona Coast Barley Boys and the Orchid Isle Alers.
Judges come from all over the United States to evaluate the entries using the AHA/BJCP National Style Guidelines for 28 different styles of beers, meads and ciders.
The Kona Brewers Festival is a unique fund raising event sponsored by The Ke Kai Ala Foundation, raising $1,065,000 over the last 22 years for Hawaii Island non-profit charities supporting youth, culture and the environment
All home brewers are welcome to enter. Entries come from the Big Island, other Hawaiian Islands, the mainland U.S. and a few international entries.

Each entry must be accompanied with the entry form, $9.00 and two bottles of your home brewed beer, mead and/or cider. Once judging is completed you will receive a BJCP score sheet with an evaluation of your entry.
The Best of Show winner for beer, - will have his/her name and the name of their brew engraved on a plaque and the winner of meads/ciders categories will have their plaque mounted to the Koa barrel trophy. Both trophies are located at Kona Brewing Company's Brewery & Pub in Kailua-Kona. Ribbons with medallions are awarded to all 28 categories: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There will be other prizes awarded for the top winners.
The Best of Show winners - in both beer and meads/ciders categories - will have his/her names and brews engraved on a plaque and mounted to the perpetual koa barrel trophy at Kona Brewing Company's Brewery & Pub in Kailua-Kona. 2018 Registration Opens January 20th and Closes February 24th

Judging will take place on March 7, 8 & 9, 2018
Winners are announced at the Kona Brewers Festival on March 10th.
